Square Hole Club at the Peterborough Space Exhibition

Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to bring off another Square Hole Club away day – this time to Peterborough Cathedral and the Space Exhibition. Great team work!

We all had a wonderful time. Some photos. Enjoy! 🙂

DSSL and LotterySK

We are taking part in the South Kesteven District Council Lottery.

Note from Dementia Support South Lincs Chair Alan Bulmer

We rely entirely on financial support from partners, friends, supporters and our own fundraising efforts. At a time when charities are experiencing big challenges in raising funds we believe that LotterySK can, with your help, provide a useful contribution to our fundraising efforts. We need your help so that we can safeguard the services we provide to our community. Please consider joining today, pass this initiative onto friends and family wherever they may be in the UK.

DSSL Harvest Lunch 2018

The Demential Support South Links Harvest Lunch was held on 19 September. We enjoyed eating together and dancing the afternoon away.

Thanks to the ladies at Mill Farm and The Fruitcake Band

And of course there was a raffle! Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make it such a lovely afternoon!

See you again same time next year!

We are feeling a bit chuffed – South Lincs CCG shared our Harvest Lunch post under #WorldAlzMonth – I have to admit I didn’t know it was World Alzheimer’s Month and I started feeling guilty that we hadn’t done anything special. Then I thought, what has DSSL been up to during September anyway? Well, by the end of the month we will done two support groups, three Art for All sessions, one Singing Together, four Tai Chi sessions, two Square Hole Clubs (one of which was our Farm Day in Aslackby) one trustee meeting and, of course, our now famous Harvest Lunch. Not sure we would have had time to fit in much more to celebrate #WorldAlzMonth 🌻🌻🌻🌻

Sunflower Challenge 2018 was Fun!

Unless someone comes up with a sunflower taller than 11 feet 4 inches, we think we have this year’s winner 🌻🌻🌻

Thanks for all the photos you’ve sent in – here is just a few of them 🌻🌻🌻 Another year of sunny fun 😉

Head over to our Sunflower Challenge Facebook Page  to see even more pictures.

Art Exhibition  and Dementia Awareness Week

We will be setting up our art exhibition which will feature work done by people living with dementia and also carers – please let us know if you have any pieces you would like to share and we will be happy to come and pick them up.
The Stamford Arts Centre gallery is open daily between 9 am – 9pm so our exhibition will hopefully be seen by lots of people.
The exhibition will not only showcase our art but will highlight other ways our charity supports people affected by dementia in our little corner of Lincolnshire.
Everyone is invited to the opening of our exhibition which will be on the evening of Tuesday 15 May between 6–8pm.
A local artist, Karen Neale, will be the official opener and we hope we will also be joined by the “great and the good” i.e. local dignitaries, businesses, supporters, other charities etc. If you have any ideas about who we should invite then please let us know – we’re open to all suggestions. This is a great opportunity to raise awareness and we want to do the very best we can.
We will also be running some taster sessions based around our regular therapeutic activity groups which are open to everyone:
  • Art for All:Tuesday 15 May from 11am–1pm
  • Tai Chi:Wednesday16 May, at The Arts Centre between 2–3pm
  • Singing Together: Thursday 17 May between 1–3pm
We are also hoping to run a couple of Dementia Friends sessions.
