Activities

We believe that inspiring those who live with dementia improves their quality of life. Every person affected by dementia should be encouraged to live life to the full. With this belief Dementia Support South Lincs has set up a number of therapeutic activities and groups and continues to develop new ones.

Please contact Danie or Lindsay if you would like to know more. We pick up phone messages daily on 01778 426756 or you can contact Lindsay on 07904740110 and Danie on 07538 243563.

Art for All

Art for All

Art has a soothing and positive effect and participants tell us they feel a sense of achievement, some never having drawn or painted before.

Art for All is held at Wake House in Bourne every Monday morning between 11am-1pm. This is a small, supported art group for people living with dementia and their carers.

There’s no need to be an artist. We are all artistic in our own way so come along and explore your creativity.

There is no charge for this but we would appreciate a voluntary donation.

Please contact us on 01778 426756 prior to your first visit or for further details.

Singing for Fun

Singing for Fun

Music gives carers and their partners another way to connect. Different types of music awaken different types of memories.

Singing for Fun is held at The Danish Invader pub in Stamford on the first Thursday of every month from 1pm-3pm.

We are delighted to welcome those living with dementia or memory loss and their carers, partners or friends to join us to sing well-known songs in a fun and supportive group.

There is no charge for this but we would appreciate a voluntary donation.

Please contact us on 01778 426756 prior to your first visit or for further details.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi

Our members have experienced increased mobility, better balance, better flexibility, improved breathing, pain and stress reduction and an improvement in general wellbeing. Importantly, the attendees feel a sense of achievement that they have taken part.

Tai Chi cannot take away dementia but it can improve the quality of life of both the carers and their partners.

Dementia Support South Lincs Tai Chi classes are held at Wake House in Bourne on Wednesday afternoons from 2pm to 3pm. Tai Chi has been adapted for people of all abilities and the classes are led by Ray Pawlett of KI-WAYS.

These classes are for those living with dementia and their carers. Attendees must be accompanied by a carer or family member.

Please contact us on 01778 426756 prior to your first visit or for further details.

Square Hole Club

Square Hole Club

Younger people living with dementia often find there is nothing on offer in their community for their age group. One of our members summed this up when he said:

“There is nothing available for my needs. I feel like a square peg being bashed into a round hole.”

And in response to that we launched Square Hole Club. This day club is held twice-monthly and offers themed and stimulating activities enabling people with early onset or early stage dementia to engage in everyday activities, contribute to what happens, and be supported appropriately, while their carers take a much needed break to have some reviving ‘me-time’.

Support workers and volunteers are on hand throughout the day to offer assistance and help. Lunch is included as well as coffee, tea, cold drinks and biscuits. Daily newspapers are also available.

The club is held at Deepings Sports and Social Club in Market Deeping on the second and fourth Thursday of each month. These excellent facilities offer a spacious club room, kitchen facilities and is overlooking magnificent sports pitches.

There is a charge for this activity. Please contact us on 01778 426756 if you’re interested in joining or for further details.

Coffee and a Chat

Coffee and a Chat

Our monthly coffee mornings are open to anyone affected by dementia. It’s a time to meet others, share experiences and offer mutual support, a time to make new friends and to chat with our Support Workers. We believe that dementia doesn’t have to be a lonely experience.

Join us in:

Bourne on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at Bourne Corn Exchange from 10am-12 noon.

Stamford on the 3rd Tuesday of every month from Blackstones Sports and Social Club from 10:00 to 12:00.

Deepings – on the first Tuesday of every month from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm at the Deeping Community Centre.
