Art for All at ‘Diversity’ Exhibition

Thank you Stamford Diversity Group for including some of our work in your latest exhibition.

The original canvas by artist Lydia Ripper Spitalny whose painting was the inspiration for Art for All group’s cardboard faces is also exhibited.

Former Stamford Poet Laureate Rob Ellks has shared a poem about Dementia which is displayed for you to read.

There are also some lovely sketches by Ella Chacksfield – Undergraduate Fine Art student at Newcastle University. Ella is from Bourne and we are hoping to do some art with her whenever she is home from Uni. This is an extract from Ella’s Artist statement about the sketches she has displayed at the exhibition.

The studies I have chosen for this exhibition are from a previous project on memory, where I interviewed a woman, Sheila, who lost her husband to dementia. Intending to express the complexity of human memory through line and relevant facial features that are associated with certain emotional states/reactions relevant to dementia. Commenting on the emotional impact dementia has on one’s own wellbeing, everyday living and its impact on families of dementia patients. Expressing how diversity includes people with illness.

Our leaflets can be picked up from Stamford Arts Centre during the exhibition. The Diversity exhibition is on until 30th August at Stamford Arts Centre, 27 St. Mary’s Street, Stamford PE9 2DL.
