Regular Therapeutic Groups and Activities

We believe that inspiring those who live with dementia improves their quality of life. Every person affected by dementia should be encouraged to live life to the full. With this belief Dementia Support South Lincs has set up a number of therapeutic activities and groups and continues to develop new ones. Please contact us if you would like to know more. Art has a soothing and positive effect and participants tell us they feel a sense of achievement, some never having drawn or painted before.

Art for All is held at Wake House in Bourne every Monday morning between 11am-1pm. This is a small, supported art group for people living with dementia and their carers.

There’s no need to be an artist. We are all artistic in our own way so come along and explore your creativity.

Our monthly coffee mornings are open to anyone affected by dementia. It’s a time to meet others, share experiences and offer mutual support, a time to make new friends and to chat with our Support Workers. We believe that dementia doesn’t have to be a lonely experience.

Join us in:

  • Bourne on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at Bourne Corn Exchange from 10am-12 noon.
  • Stamford on the 3rd Tuesday of every month from Blackstones Sports and Social Club from 10:00 to 12:00.
  • Langtoft – second Tuesday of every month from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. at at Langtoft Village Hall.
  • The Cedars Evening Group – on the third Thursday of every month from 6.30pm – 8pm. Please contact our office on 01778 426756 to find out more.

This exciting new group will run at The Cedars Care Home in Bourne every third Thursday of the month, starting from 10am to 12.00noon.

A wonderful opportunity to make new friends, while also helping out with the sprucing up of the beautiful garden at The Cedars.

Music gives carers and their partners another way to connect. Different types of music awaken different types of memories.

Singing for Fun is held at The Danish Invader pub in Stamford on the first Thursday of every month from 1pm-3pm.

We are delighted to welcome those living with dementia or memory loss and their carers, partners or friends to join us to sing well-known songs in a fun and supportive group.

Our members have experienced increased mobility, better balance, better flexibility, improved breathing, pain and stress reduction and an improvement in general wellbeing. Importantly, the attendees feel a sense of achievement that they have taken part.

Tai Chi cannot take away dementia but it can improve the quality of life of both the carers and their partners.

Dementia Support South Lincs Tai Chi classes are held at Wake House in Bourne on Wednesday afternoons from 2pm to 3pm. Tai Chi has been adapted for people of all abilities and the classes are led by Ray Pawlett of KI-WAYS.

These classes are for those living with dementia and their carers. Attendees must be accompanied by a carer or family member.
