Art Exhibition  and Dementia Awareness Week

We will be setting up our art exhibition which will feature work done by people living with dementia and also carers – please let us know if you have any pieces you would like to share and we will be happy to come and pick them up.
The Stamford Arts Centre gallery is open daily between 9 am – 9pm so our exhibition will hopefully be seen by lots of people.
The exhibition will not only showcase our art but will highlight other ways our charity supports people affected by dementia in our little corner of Lincolnshire.
Everyone is invited to the opening of our exhibition which will be on the evening of Tuesday 15 May between 6–8pm.
A local artist, Karen Neale, will be the official opener and we hope we will also be joined by the “great and the good” i.e. local dignitaries, businesses, supporters, other charities etc. If you have any ideas about who we should invite then please let us know – we’re open to all suggestions. This is a great opportunity to raise awareness and we want to do the very best we can.
We will also be running some taster sessions based around our regular therapeutic activity groups which are open to everyone:
  • Art for All:Tuesday 15 May from 11am–1pm
  • Tai Chi:Wednesday16 May, at The Arts Centre between 2–3pm
  • Singing Together: Thursday 17 May between 1–3pm
We are also hoping to run a couple of Dementia Friends sessions.

DSSL Sunflower Challenge 2017

Thanks to everyone who has sent in such beautiful and amusing photos of their sunflowers – here is a small selection.

Now we need to know the height of your tallest. From what we’ve heard, this year’s growth hasn’t been as good as last year when Wayne’s grew to over 14 feet and the head of Len’s was 18 inches across.

We have started receiving some of your sponsorship money too which is gratefully received and will all go to continue the daily work of Dementia Support South Lincs.

Afternoon Tea at Grimsthorpe Castle

We had Afternoon Tea at Grimsthorpe Castle, courtesy of Ray Biggs.

Here are a few photos of our trip today, shame it was cloudy and a little wet but it did dry up a little bit to allow us a gentle stroll around these beautiful gardens. The weather certainly didn’t dampen our spirits and a good time was had by all 😊
