DSSL Sunflower Challenge 2017

Thanks to everyone who has sent in such beautiful and amusing photos of their sunflowers – here is a small selection.

Now we need to know the height of your tallest. From what we’ve heard, this year’s growth hasn’t been as good as last year when Wayne’s grew to over 14 feet and the head of Len’s was 18 inches across.

We have started receiving some of your sponsorship money too which is gratefully received and will all go to continue the daily work of Dementia Support South Lincs.

Afternoon Tea at Grimsthorpe Castle

We had Afternoon Tea at Grimsthorpe Castle, courtesy of Ray Biggs.

Here are a few photos of our trip today, shame it was cloudy and a little wet but it did dry up a little bit to allow us a gentle stroll around these beautiful gardens. The weather certainly didn’t dampen our spirits and a good time was had by all 😊

DSSL Day Out at Foxdale Equine Assisted Learning

So many lovely photos from our day out at Foxdale Equine Assisted Learning.

Thank you to Tracy, Mike and all the amazingly patient Foxdale volunteers who kept us supplied with tea, coffee and cold drinks all day and filled us up with scrumpy scones before we left.

We love visiting you – you make us so welcome every time we come – we feel like part of the extended Foxdale family. Keep up the good work! Hope it won’t be too long before we can come again 😊

Gardening Fun at Square Hole Club

When we decided on “Gardening” as our theme for Square Hole Club we didn’t know this was National Gardening Week – what do you think of our gardening tableaux?

It was another fun Square Hole day!

When we decided on “Gardening” as our theme for Square Hole Club we didn’t know this was National Gardening Week – what do you think of our gardening tableaux?

We all had a lot of fun setting these pictures up and we hope they make you smile. It was a laugh out loud activity for us!

Dementia Support Team Memory Box at Stamford Santa Fun Run 2016

Another Santa Fun Run under our belt – well done team MEMORY BOX.

We managed to complete the 5 km “stroll” in just over an hour! Thank you to everyone who sponsored us. As soon as we have a total we’ll let you know but we think we might have raised a few hundred pounds this year.

Spending a winter morning with 800 Santas definitely gets you into the Christmas spirit!

Stamford Santa Fun Run on 11 December

Well it looks like our charity is entering the Burghley Santa Fun Run again this year and thanks to Denis’ efforts at the Christmas Fayre yesterday, we now have over £100 in pledges – the only problem is I (that is me, Kate) is a team of ONE at the moment.

Anyone else fancy joining me? I should just say – I’ll be walking not running but I don’t want that to hinder any potential running mates!!!

Aslackby Art Show

Thanks to everyone who came to the Dementia Support Aslackby Art exhibition and shared in the harvest festival activities and worship, not to mention the scrumptious lunch, the auction of produce and afternoon tea.

The art show was a huge success on so many levels. Here are some of the comments from visitors:

“Very impressive exhibition and so wonderful to see such a diverse collection of art forms”

“What a warm welcome and a brilliant idea”

“Beautiful paintings and quilts, wish I was half as clever”.

We are very proud to have been part of such an inspirational event.

Sunflower Challenge Day at Square Hole Club

On 8th September it was our big Sunflower Challenge Day at SQHC. Thank Everyone who took part in the summer challenge and joined in the fun.

As always, our fish and chip lunch from The Boundary was delicious and Trudie treated us to a cup cake fest in the afternoon. The tea and cakes slid down as we tried our best to answer Wayne and Eddie’s music quiz.

Pauline Redmond, Deputy Mayor of Market Deeping, called in during the afternoon to present the awards, just in time to join in the dancing!
