Dementia Support South Lincs was formed in January 2011 in order to maintain a dementia support service formerly provided by the Alzheimer’s Society. We became a registered charity in May 2012. Our Memory Health Care Worker is a qualified social worker with extensive experience of working with those suffering from dementia and memory loss issues.
We work in partnership with Stamford based charity, Evergreen Care Trust which makes a major contribution to the funding of her position. Donations, support from members and well wishers, our own fundraising efforts and grant aid has enabled us to continue and build on the service previously provided by the Alzheimer’s Society. We continue to maintain our links with Alzheimers’s Society.
We currently support around 200 families in the Deepings, Bourne & Stamford areas who are living with dementia. These families receive advice, information and emotional support from our memory health care worker, and enjoy group support at our monthly meetings and other events. Our meetings and events enable carers and their cared for to share experiences, listen to speakers on relevant topics, and take part in a wide range of activities, visits and social events. We do hold dedicated social events too for our younger people with dementia – those who, when diagnosed, were under 65 years of age.
